Cynthia Williams - Gospel Recording Artist
Introducing a new gospel recording artist, Cynthia Williams, based in the Metro Atlanta area.
Cynthia Williams’ CD is one of the most interesting mixes I’ve heard in a long time. Her songs combine the traditional “Sunday Church” gospel sound with the smoothness of contemporary praise and worship. Produced by Grammy-Award nominee Kevin J. Yancy and Richard Gibbs, Sr., the theme of this CD centers around the goodness and mercy of God.
Cynthia’s musical journey began by singing in church and school choirs at an early age. For several years she was a member of the popular female R &B group in the Chicago area, “Brown Sugar” and Crystal Critique. She was a long-time member of GMWA participating in both her residing local chapters and National. Her first recording was with Pastor C.L. Fairchild and the Voices of Greater Faith in a duet with Fairchild on “He Brought Joy” which received national radio airplay in the late 80’s. Cynthia’s love of music continued through her education development, in addition to other academic degrees she holds a B.A. in Music from Western Illinois University. Sang with the Charles Westmoreland Chorale, Atlanta, GMWA Georgia Chapter, Thomas Whitfield, Richard Smallwood, Twinkie Clark, Jimmy Abbington workshop choirs.
I believe Cynthia Williams' poise and voice will entertain your listeners, while the lyrics of her songs are filled with messages of hope to encourage anyone going through tough times. This CD was recently shared with Nikki Giovanni who complimented Cynthia regarding the incredible voice she has been gifted with. In Ms. Giovanni’s words, “ You soar with love and caring. The CD has been in my CD slot since it was shared with me. Everyone who needs compassion, everyone who needs to give and understand should listen to you sing praises.”
This CD features Cynthia on vocals on each selection, an added collaboration with Min. Vernon Clark on her own inspired arrangement “Trust the Lord”. It also features some of gospel’s finest musicians such as ZFloyd Thomas (overdubs), Al Wilson (bass and lead guitar), Kahari Parker (drums), Richard Gibbs (keys and organ) and Roland Pollard (“Trust the Lord” instrumentation).
If Cynthia Williams’ music and lyrics have an authentic, grateful sound, it’s because she lives the life she sings about. She states that “Her truth is being told” through the lyrics of each selection. Her hope and prayer is that these songs minister to you and remind you of how you’ve been “Blessed Speechless”.
